Lacking self confidence can feel like a prison sentence. I’ve been there, I know exactly how it feels. Always taking a back seat to your friends who get all the attention from the girls, being passed over for promotion in favor of those who are deemed more able to propel the company forward by virtue of their own self belief and confidence.

I was shy up until my mid twenties when I actually decided to take the bull by the horns and make some changes. These changes are what I describe in my new book Confidence For Men, which you can find on Amazon. Of course it was a gradual process but I think over a couple of years I changed incredibly. These days, although still naturally introverted and that will never change, I am one of the more confident people I know.

Now I’ll say that the two most important things are firstly learning what needs to be done and then secondly, actually doing it! Below I’ll give a few self confidence building tips to get you started.

Use A Confident Posture

In my book, I actually give reference to a study that was carried out that proves beyond doubt that the way in which we sit while we’re writing things about ourselves can determine how much we actually believe in what we’re saying. For example, those who sat up straight while writing that they’d be a great Doctor or Lawyer actually believed in what they were writing more than those who wrote the exact same thing while slouching in the chair.

Therefore our postures, while sitting and standing have an overall effect on our confidence. You need to imagine there is a helium filled balloon on a string in your teeth which is pulling your head upwards and elongating your spine. This is one way of correcting your posture and making you more confident.

Use Confident Body Language

Do you know it’s possible to look confident even if you’re not? You can use your body language in order to do this. When we’re communicating with people, the language our bodies give off make up around 60% of the overall message whereas the words we say make up only 10%. You can sound unsure of yourself and talk rubbish, but as long as your body looks right while you’re saying it, you can still come over as being super confident. I talk a lot about this confident body language in my book and I also go briefly into it in this article on how to be an alpha male. So feel free to take in what you can do to look confident while you sit, stand, speak or do nothing.

But I’ll go even further than saying that your body language makes you look confident. I’ll even go as far as to say you can change your present state confidence simply by using the confident body language I describe.

The default standing position for many guys, especially those who lack confidence is the arms folded position. When we fold our arms, we’re actually building a wall between us and everybody else. But if we actually drop our arms down by our sides, we can actually feel more open and relaxed.

Studies have proven our body language actually effects how we feel at any one time. So by simply adapting a more open stance, you become more confident. Confident body language actually perpetuates a positive spiral, helping you to build self confidence with total natural ease.

Knowing how to build self confidence really begins with your body language, it really is that important.

Improve Your Confidence By Doing Something Life Changing

I gained my new confidence owing a great deal to some of the new things I was doing and the amount of people I was getting to know in the process. Looking back in fact, I was shy growing up mainly because I had no interests other than playing video games.

I took up a range of new hobbies which forced me to get out there. Break dancing was the best thing I ever did, which I have been doing for nearly ten years now. Many of my friends are breakdancers and we hang out and do our thing regularly. Do you think I look shy or like I lack confidence while I breakdance? No is the answer to that!

You have to find that one thing that will captivate you in a similar way and change your life for the better. Physical activities are probably the best way of meeting people in your area and making life long friends too. Extreme sports are more interesting in general as not many people do them and you’ll look very attractive to the ladies because they won’t know anybody else who sky dives or white water rafts or enters triathlons.

There are many other life changing things you can do which would be like injecting liquid confidence into your bloodstream. Why not start up a part time business based on an interest you have? You could learn website building skills, or learn a musical instrument. Consider getting your pilots license, or something you can do which will cost you nothing except your lunch money is to befriend an enemy.

All these things will change your life!

Gain Confidence By Expanding Your Social Circle

Expanding your social circle is easy in the age of Facebook! We are all friends with people we went to school with, but how often do we really speak to them? Why not meet up with our old friends for a beer and get to know them all over again? This really is the most simple way of expanding your circle of friends by better utilizing what you already have.

By taking account of the section above also, by taking up new hobbies, you’ll be interacting with more people on a regular basis. You’ll have that common activity to bond you together. It’s easy to make new friendships when you have a shared passion.

So what is the best kind of profile picture you could use?

As guys, when we look at other girls profiles, the first thing we tend to do is jump straight to their pictures to see how hot they are. Well trust me, it’s no different for the girls. So you really need to have a large amount of photos that demonstrate your value and worthiness.

First of all though, you need to delete any photos that show you in the opposite light. Anything like you being in stupid drunken poses, or in fights, on the toilet or just in general looking ugly. I have to be blunt to get my point accross, that bad photos will put girls off you. If you’re one of the many guys who has photos with an outstretched arm, taking picture of yourself, then please delete them too.

- Photos cuddling cute pets

- Photos cuddling cute babies or children

These are all example of wonderful photos you should be using. Many of these photos will actually entice women to “open” you into conversation, so meeting them should be easy after that.

If you’re wanting to meet girls on Facebook then the worst thing you could do would be to have a status that shows you’re ‘single’. After all, you’d be giving the game away and making it far too obvious why you’re messaging her wouldn’t you! If I were you, I’d keep things a mystery and turn your relationship status off completely. Besides, if she asks if you’re single then this is proof she’s interested.

Start Of Your First Date – Tips For The Beginning!

Why be like most guys who waltz up on time or even a few minutes late when you can arrive at the venue early and scope out the place and do a little ground work!

I always like to arrive a few minutes early to talk to the staff at the museum, bar, coffee shop or cinema. This way, when your date arrives, you can refer to your early conversation and make it seem like you’re old friends. If the staff member is a hot girl then this is even better for social proof reasons.

If you’re traveling to her town, or a neutral town and you’re not too sure where anything is, then it’s even more important to arrive early and do your ground work. Girls like guys to be leaders and to know what they are doing. If you meet somewhere and then you don’t know where the nearest Starbucks is then you’re not going to look like you’re in control. Arrive early and do your ground work!

As for meeting your date at the rendezvous, I always like to turn up no more than 2 minutes early! This way you’re not waiting around ages for her and you’re not going to be late either. If a guy can’t turn up on time for a date then what else can’t he do?

Likewise, if you’re date arrives late herself then you’ll have to be prepared to give her a little bit of a dressing down. Try and do it in a playful way, but you certainly have to mention it otherwise you’ll come across as being a pushover. You can be playful by calling her Captain Lateness when she turns up.

First Conversation Tips

That first conversation is often a little bit awkward as you’re both finding your feet and getting comfortable with each other. One question the girl often asks the guy is what they’ve been doing today. A typical response from the average man is something such as “not much really”!

Well this isn’t a very good start at all and you certainly aren’t using the first conversation to your advantage! What’s wrong with saying nothing much? Well mostly, you make yourself look like you aren’t a very busy guy, which isn’t an attractive trait to have. You should use that first question to your advantage to make it look like you’re very busy! So in future, if a girl on a first date asks you what you’ve been doing today, how about answering something like the following:

Well i got up early for my morning jog, i just can’t start the day without feeling the earth beneath my feet. I then went for a coffee with a friend while we discussed business. After that, i then met up with my friend for a quick game of squash. After that i just wrote a few emails then set off to meet up with you.

Do you see the difference? This makes you look extremely active, busy and attractive. There’s even a little bit of imagery chucked into the first line for good measure, which will actually force her brain to picture you out jogging.

Kino Escalation

Kino escalation refers to small, slight touches at the beginning of the date, which then increase in magnitude going towards the end of the date. The purpose of kino escalation is to make the girl feel gradually more comfortable with you touching her over the course of the date.

Imagine, on most occasions, the date is about to end and there is this massive moment of tension where you’re wanting to kiss her. It is very hard to do so because no kino has been built up prior to this point. In fact, if you get kino right, your first kiss, should be during the day and not right at the end. In fact, if you get kino off to a good start, then it should be her making many of the kino initiatives as well as yourself.

If you make plenty of little touches, and some medium ones throughout the date, then going for the kiss somewhere before the end should only feel natural and a lot more comfortable.

Kino should start right at the very beginning! When you meet, you shake her hand, hold it for as long as feels comfortable, whilst you kiss her on both cheeks. You can lead her in the direction you’re heading in (did you scope out the town earlier?) and give her a little touch on the small of her back to do this. You should always open doors for your date, not to be a gentleman, but because it gives you a chance to touch her lower back as you lead her through. If you’re telling a story, then you can emphasize certain points by touching her arm. If you leave one venue and head off to another, then you should at the very least link arms, if it’s going well then why not hold hands?

Be brave, be a man and always kino!

Being A Leader

All girls love men who are leaders! In fact i will go as far as to say that if you allow your date to lead your around then it’s going to be game over.

But what is leadership? Well in the context of a first date, leadership can come down to simply having a plan and enforcing it. Trust me, 99% of girls will be ecstatic to have you lead, they are naturally submissive and they will happily allow you to lead them anywhere (within reason) as long as you know what you’re doing.

This goes back to my section above on arriving early for your date, scoping the place out and having a plan. Make sure you know what you’re doing, where you’re going, opening times, prices and any other contingencies. You should also have a back up plan in case something should happen. Has she already seen the film you’re off to see for example, may often crop up.

It’s actually very simple, just plan your date out and lead!

Let’s start by talking about one very easy yet very effective trait that all alpha males have in common. In fact this one is so easy that you can start doing it straight away and you will start to feel a difference in your confidence just by doing this!

How To Be An Alpha Male – TAKE UP SPACE!!!

Practice when you’re at home watching TV! Lean back, spread your legs and drape one arm over the back of the sofa. When you’re out at a bar it will be more natural. Never look as if you’re apologizing for taking up room. SPREAD OUT! Wrap your arm over the head of the neighbouring chair! Then try propping one foot on the knee of the other leg. Don’t cross your legs for heavens sake, but I would definitely sit like you’re totally relaxed and in control.

This is very easy, very subtle yet incredibly effective! You can do it right now! In fact by doing this, people will be able to look at you from the other side of a room and they will simply naturally assume that you’re a confident and happy guy.

Below is one thing that is common to many beta males and will give the game away straight away if you’re not real careful!

How To Become An Alpha Male – STOP FIDGETING!

Alpha males do not fidget! I assume you don’t fidget when you’re at home watching TV! If you do then you need to consciously work on stopping this. Think about what you’re doing and stop doing it or it’s going to be more intense when you’re with your peer group. If you fidget when you’re out with your friends then you need to try and eliminate these one by one. It’s hard to look comfortable and in control when you appear so nervous to everyone around you, so you really have to work on cutting out the fidgeting!

Common types of fidgeting include tapping your feet, playing with your cell/mobile phone, putting your hand over your face and mouth and taking regular small sips of your drink just to give yourself something to do.

Very Important Alpha Male Trait – BE A LEADER!

Perhaps the single most important of all the alpha male characteristics is the ability to lead! All alpha males are born leaders. But if you break it down and think about it logically, a big part of what it comes down to is the ability to organize!

In every group of friends there is always a leader which 99% of the time is the person doing the organizing! The guy who calls everybody up and tells you all when and where you’re meeting…and everybody tends to follow this person! If there was nobody doing this organizing, then you would have no group, at least not for the times when nothing was arranged.

If you want people to follow you, then you have to lead first! You have to start organizing something. Begin with something small like arranging a night out at a local bar or club!

When people turn up, then you have to take it from there and continue to lead all the way through! In fact, your friends will be expecting you to do this! It may well feel very strange to you if you’ve not done it before. I used to constantly look behind me to check that my friends were indeed following me! The funny thing is, they always were!

If you expect that they will follow you and you believe it, then they will!

Women expect that men will lead! If you do not have the ability to take the lead with women, then you will not have women! It is pretty much as simple as that, so please make sure that you begin putting this very important alpha male characteristic into practice asap.

Alpha Male Characteristics – BODY LANGUAGE!

To have more attractive looking body language you need to study how alpha males sit or stand! Alpha males stand out in crowds because they always appear comfortable within their surroundings.

Even if you don’t feel comfortable, you can quite easily project the look of being alpha and comfortable with some of the following attractive body language traits:

1. Look like you’re totally relaxed when seated! Don’t lean forward with your elbows on the table. Lean back with one arm round the back of the chair.

2. Widen your legs, take up space!

3. If you’re standing then stand with your feet slightly further than shoulder width. This might feel weird at first but will give you a more secure hold and look of dominance.

4. Don’t fidget! Find a place to put your hands in a comfortable way and keep them there. Fidgeting does not make for attractive body language.

5. When you’re speaking to people, look them in the eyes with a non intense stare! Don’t freak them out by staring intensely what ever you do! But your stare should be soft and with a slight smile. Holding eye contact shows confidence.

6. When you shake someones hand, giving them a pat on the back with your free hand is a subtle way of saying “i’m in charge here!”

7. When sitting down, I always prop one foot on the knee of the opposite leg. Whilst leaning back in my chair with my arm over the chair next to me, this looks very confident!

8. Your movements should always be slow and controlled. Never be quick to react to anything that may be going on around you! If you project an air of calmness, people will look up to you and wonder how you’re doing it!

All the above things are very easy to do and can be done immediately to make you appear to be calm, confident and in control. All alpha males share these attractive body language traits which women find so attractive! If you’re able to make all of the above alpha male tips a part of your self then knowing how to pick up women anywhere at all is not going to be a problem.

The reason for this is because every PUA has to approach, there’s no two ways around it! If you don’t approach you’re not going to get to comfort or qualification or to closing.

Approach anxiety never completely goes, but you can quite easily get it under control and make it so that even when faced with an extremely hot girl, you’ll easily be able to approach her.

Here are some tips to help you get over your approach anxiety. I overcame my approach anxiety roughly three years ago and I can still remember what it was like at the time. I know exactly what you’re going through which is why I wrote the book Destroy Approach Anxiety which you can buy on Amazon Kindle for next to nothing.

1. Clear Your Head – I’m all in favor of reading up and studying as much as you can about pick up. But all that advanced stuff you’ve no doubt learned is useless if you dare not approach. In fact my theory is that all this stuff in your head; jokes, routines, lines, qualification, comfort, kino, closing etc is what’s causing approach anxiety! No wonder! In the heat of the moment when faced with a hot girl, how are you supposed to remember all this crap?

This is why I always do day game, never night game. It’s far more simple with so much less crap and routines involved. When you keep things simple, pick up is so much easier and your approach anxiety goes out the window! I go through my entire day game routine in the article How To Pick Up Women! It’s incredibly simple which is why I was able to destroy my approach anxiety! Only after you’ve defeated your approach anxiety should you consider all the other stuff you’ve learned; routines, jokes, kino etc to maximize your success.

I simply keep things simple by clearing my head of everything I know when I make the approach. I go direct every single time! Read the article and you’ll see why! Day game is far more simple, as is the direct approach when compared to the indirect approach. If you do direct approaches in the day, in the street then you’re getting the best of both worlds. You should overcome your approach anxiety by doing these kinds of approach at least until you get over it.

2. Have A Wing – Having a wing man to go out with is great for so many reasons. Not least for approach anxiety purposes.

You can make each other do forfeits for chickening out of approaches. One game I played which might work for you is that you give your wing $100. He tells you which girl to approach and if you don’t do it, he keeps $20. Basically you have 5 attempts to win back your $100! Is not approaching that hot girl really worth losing $20 over?

Having a wing also gives you a reason to stand around in the street “talking” while waiting for hot girls to come by! You can start your conversation with “hi I was just over there with my friend when I saw you and I just had to come over to say hi”! Over time, this has been the very best line I’ve used!

3. Start Small – I’ve read in some places that it’s easier approaching “2 sets” than a girl on her own! This is because you can make conversation with 2 people easier than one and because the girl feels safer when with a friend. In reality the best thing is to do what you’re more comfortable with! It’s better to approach one, two or three girls than to chicken out altogether! Just do what you feel comfortable doing.

4. Build On Your Success – One thing I’ve found is that as soon as you’ve made your first approach on any given day, no matter how bad or well it went, you’re immediately fired up to do another approach. This next approach always goes far better since you’re on a high. Use this opportunity, this high to your advantage.

5. Study Youtube Approach Videos – There are many day game approach clips on Youtube. Check out a wide range to find a style of direct approach you think you can model yourself around. This will give you confidence to do it and it really is as simple as they make it appear.

6. Don’t Take It Too Seriously – This is really obvious. You’ll get girls that have boyfriends, are in a rush, don’t stop to talk or are simply just plain rude. What ever the outcome, just brush it off and go onto the next one. Don’t let a silly girl ruin your approaches, simply analyse where you went wrong and work on improving your next approach. Always take the positives and never remember the negatives. Best of luck with your approaching!

When it comes to picking up women during the day (my speciality), you have to understand that once you get over your initial fear, it’s far easier than trying to pick up girls in bars or night clubs. Women expect to be hit on in bars! However on the street or in a shopping centre it rarely happens and women are off their guard. This gives you a great opportunity to swoop in and get their phone number!

And i’m not saying this method is perfect! All i can say is this is my method and it works for me. It doesn’t work everytime, but it works far more often than it fails.

So grab a cup of coffee and take in my tips! All this I do on a regular basis so I know about any pitfalls or anxieties you may have. Trust me when I say, you’ve just got to put what you’ve learned into practice!

How To Pick Up Women – The Mindset!

Women rarely get approached in the daytime and if they are, then 9 times out of 10 its by a drunk or some social undesirable they will just ignore! Therefore if you approach a girl and you’re confidant and are not some homeless guy then you’ll immediately arouse curiosity. You will have her respect for being the only nice guy that year with the balls to do what you’re doing!

Remember this! Girls will always give you a few minutes of their time if you actually do this! Approach them and you will be rewarded with a few minutes to show them you’re worth getting to know!

How To Pick Up Women – Pre Approach!

Following on from above, try not to look like a homeless guy! When you’re out shopping, going for a coffee or for a walk you’ll always increase your chances if you look your best! Dress nice and be well groomed! If nothing else, it’ll make you feel more confidant which she’ll also detect.

I’ve found that sometimes it helps to listen to some uplifting tunes on my Ipod to get me in the mood, if you need to do this then do it!

When you spot her, make sure you’re posture is straight, you have your chin up and are walking towards her with confidence. She’ll be forming an opinion on you already, before you’ve even said anything! How unfare is that?

Above all, it helps to have an idea of what you’re about to do and say before you do it…Read on!

How To Pick Up Women – Types Of Approaches!

There are two types of approaches; indirect and direct! As they are covered in amazing detail in other places I shall only briefly describe them here. An indirect approach is where you go in with a question or to ask for their opinion on something, trying to come in under the radar! If you’ve read The Game by Neil Straus or much literature on this subject then you’ll know they tend to advocate towards indirect openers. This is because most of the literature out there is for picking up women in bars and night clubs.

Think about it for a second! A guy reads in the game that you should go “indirect” on a girl. So he goes up to her and he says to her in the middle of the day “I like your hair, but is it real?” Well that is just gonna come across as being weird, not to mention an obvious pick up. That line might work great in a bar or nightclub but definately not during the day on the street.

For picking up women during the day , I’ve always found that direct openers work far far better. Being direct is to march straight up to a girl you find attractive and to bluntly tell her just that, that you think she is stunning!

Believe me, if you do this, you will make an impact, you’ll look confidant and if you do it right then you’ll get her number and who knows where it will go from there!

How To Pick Up Women – Advantages Of Going Direct!

1. You look alpha male; you’ve seen something you like and you’ve gone for it! This is provided you don’t hesitate that is!

2. You don’t waste 10 minutes talking about an opinion you don’t really care about so you save time!

3. You get instant respect!

4. Perhaps most importantly; the structure of a direct daytime approach is very simple. I have a theory that the fear of approaching women comes from having too much tactics, pick up lines, techniques and other crap in your head that you think you need to pull off to get her number. The reality is that it’s really quite simple!

How To Pick Up Women – The Approach!

You may not think that going direct is your style, but please just give it a few goes and see how you find it. The beauty is that when you’ve done it once, no matter how well or bad it went, you’re fired up to do another one straight after. You’ll feel unstoppable!

Here is the approach:

1. Assuming your target is in the street, you need to position yourself about 2 metres in front of her. This may well mean you have to run, but this will add to the impact. If she’s walking towards you then stop her 2 metres in front, if she’s walking away then run maybe a little more than 2 metres in front as she’ll keep on moving for a few steps before she stops.

2. Remember you’re going direct! This means that you’re saying to her something like:

“Oh my god I was just over there on my phone and I had to hang up when I saw you and come over otherwise I would just kick myself”

or

“Hey i’ve got to stop you and say hi cos if i didn’t i’d never forgive myself, I think you’re stunning!”

or

“Hey I was just over there with my friend and I ran away from her when I saw you cos I think you’re just beautiful!”

3. When you’ve done that, the hard part is over! Well almost! Either way, you’re going to know pretty soon how it went down and if it’s not too well, then who cares, just move onto the next one!

4. Assuming she hasn’t run away, which 9 times out of 10 she won’t. Just introduce yourself and shake her hand! Now comes the most difficult part of the pick up…the transition!

All you have to do here is carry on talking and try to get the girl into a normal conversation! So carrying on from one of the direct openers from above; “Hey i’ve got to stop you and say hi cos if i didn’t i’d never forgive myself, I think you’re stunning!” Shake her hand “I’m (insert your name)”, she’ll introduce herself then say something like “You know what it was about you that I like, it’s the way you walk” or “It’s the way you dress, it’s very rare to find a girl in this town who knows how to dress!” Basically you’re giving her a compliment that follows on from your opener! If you can come up with something tailored to her as you’re walking up then you’re making your life easier. If she’s wearing a stylish hat then mention that, it will sound more sincere and genuine, she’ll also appreciate it simply because she also knows she looks good in that hat.

5. Now just try to get into a normal conversation for about 10 minutes! Well actually the longer the better and the less likely she’ll be to flake on dates! Ask her how her day is going so far, or what she was doing before she was rudely interrupted. Find out about her, try and find common ground and you’ll have an idea about what to do for a date!

6. As soon as you’ve found common ground then you can easily set a date up there and then! Does she like coffee, the cinema, going for a meal. What museums does she like? It really doesn’t have to be hard for you to get this information! Then you PUT YOUR PHONE IN HER HAND AND TELL HER TO PUT HER NUMBER IN! Don’t ever ask for her number, just do what I capitalized above!

7. When you have her number and she hands you your phone back, don’t assume that your work is done! Now is your chance to do something unique, that no other guy will ever do in her lifetime! Text her there and then while she’s standing next to you.
